Description

Knit a Soft Diamond Blanket for Baby

You want to give the new baby something you made yourself. Something soft and pretty that the family will keep for years.

It’s all knits, purls, and a few simple eyelets. The diamond texture builds up as you go, so it looks special without being hard to make.

Skill Level: Beginner-Friendly
Finished Size: 70 x 90 cm (27" x 35"), easily adjusted

  • Textured border worked as you go, so there’s no picking up stitches or sewing at the end
  • Follow the written rows or the chart, whichever feels easier for you
  • Simple to make bigger or smaller for a crib, stroller, or larger snuggle blanket

“Simple enough for my evenings in front of the TV, and my daughter teared up when she opened it.”

Materials

  • Worsted weight yarn (soft merino recommended)
  • 4.5 mm (US 7) knitting needles
  • 2 stitch markers
  • Pins or blocking wires
