Description

Make Something They'll Actually Want to Wear

Most kids' cardigan patterns give you cute or cozy. This one gives you both — with flower granny squares crocheted into the body of a knitted cardigan, for a result that genuinely stands out.

If you've ever wanted to combine your knitting and crochet skills in a single project, this is a natural fit. The construction is well-mapped and the steps build on each other clearly.

Skill Level: Intermediate (combines knitting and crochet techniques)
Finished Size: Bust 61–93 cm / Length 33–49 cm, in sizes 1–2, 2–4, 4–6, 6–9, and 9–12 years

  • Five sizes from toddler to preteen, with full measurements for each, so you're not guessing on fit
  • Combines crocheted flower granny squares with stockinette and raglan shaping — two techniques, one cohesive result
  • Includes ribbing, double-knitted button band, and neckline shaping for a clean, finished look

"I made this for my granddaughter and she refuses to take it off. Worth every stitch."

Materials

  • Yarn: DK/light fingering weight held double — merino wool + silk mohair recommended (or similar fiber pairing)
  • Needles: 4 mm and 3.5 mm circular needles, double-pointed needles or long circular for magic loop
  • Hook: 3.5 mm crochet hook
  • Notions: Stitch markers, tapestry needle, buttons
