  • Aran weight yarn (merino, merino blend, or alpaca/cotton blend)
  • 4.5 mm (US 7) knitting needles
  • Crochet hook, any size from 3 mm to 5 mm (US 3 to 7), for the button loops
  • 6 to 8 buttons (15 to 20 mm)
  • 3 stitch markers (one removable, or a safety pin)
  • Tapestry needle
