Modular Blanket Knitting Pattern

Modular Blanket Knitting Pattern

Modular blanket knitting

Knit bold diagonal colour blocks into one continuous blanket. Each new section grows from stitches already on the needles or picked up along an edge, so there’s no stack of squares to sew together.

The six-colour sample uses a neutral to separate stronger tones. Use the colour-planning sheet to check which shades touch before you start.

Know where the next section fits

Each section has a small diagram showing where it sits in relation to the sections you’ve already made. Keep the diagram handy when you turn the blanket to pick up stitches.

A few things before you begin

Choose your size, check your yarn and plan your first stitches.

Do I need six colours?

No. The directions label six colours, but you can repeat colours across sections. Use the planning sheet to make sure neighbouring sections have the contrast you want.

Can I use a shorter circular needle?

Use a cable at least 100 cm (40 in) long. It gives you room to hold live stitches from earlier sections while you knit the next one.

What gauge should I aim for?

16 stitches and 32 rows per 10 cm (4 in) in blocked garter stitch.

How do I receive my pattern?

After payment, follow the download link with your order. Save the file so you can return to the instructions when you’re ready to make it.
