The pockets are knitted into the fronts. If you choose them, set out the extra locking markers and plan for a little sewing to finish the linings.

Yes. The pocket instructions are optional. The rest of the vest is worked the same way.

How many buttons do I need?

The 3- and 6-month sizes use three buttons, the 12-month through 2-year sizes use four, the 4- and 6-year sizes use five, and the 8- and 10-year sizes use six.

What gauge should I aim for?

20 stitches and 32 rows per 10 cm in blocked textured stitch.
