The narrow stripes leave room for a subtle palette or more contrast. The ribbed opening frames the stripes in a solid colour.

Your time with the needles

Check the finished measurements before casting on

Swatch in stockinette and block it before measuring. The top and bottom circumferences are different, so compare both with the size you want.

A few things before you begin

Choose your size, check your yarn and plan your first stitches.

Do I need three full balls for the sample?

The sample used 13 g, 31 g and 34 g of the three colours. Match the metreage and gauge if you’re choosing yarn from your stash.

How does the bottom close?

The last row uses a three-needle bind-off to join the front and back. Keep both circular needles handy for that step.

What gauge should I aim for?

23 stitches and 32 rows per 10 cm (4 in) in blocked stockinette.
